Every month we share one easy blend made only with oils from our shelf, so you can make it tonight. This month: Golden Hour, a warm, glowing scent for shorter autumn days.
The recipe
Add to your diffuser with water, following your diffuser's instructions:
- 3 drops Mandarin (top note: sweet, bright citrus)
- 2 drops Rose Geranium (middle note: soft, rosy, a little minty)
- 1 drop Vetiver (base note: deep, earthy, smoky)
A 10 ml bottle holds roughly 200 drops, so this trio makes dozens of diffuser sessions.
Why it works: the 3-2-1 method
Perfumers build scents in three layers. Top notes are what you smell first; they're bright and fade fastest. Middle notes are the heart of the blend. Base notes are deep and linger, holding everything together. Using 3 drops of a top note, 2 of a middle and 1 of a base gives you a balanced blend almost every time.
Make it yours
- Brighter: swap Mandarin for Bergamot.
- Richer and more floral: swap Vetiver for Ylang Ylang.
- Fresher: swap Rose Geranium for Sweet Marjoram.

A quick safety note
These amounts are for diffusing. If you want to wear a blend, always dilute it in a carrier oil and patch test first. Keep essential oils away from children and pets, and ask a healthcare professional before use if you're pregnant, nursing or under medical care.
